ELEMENTS OF INTERACTIVE DASHBOARD (PART I)

In order to create a good dashboard, there are few questions that each one should ask before starting to create a dashboard. This helps us to ultimately build and deliver a satisfying dashboard to the customers.

4 W’s OF A GOOD DASHBOARD

  1. Who is your target audience?
  2. Where will they view the dashboard?
  3. Why are you building it?
  4. What elements do you want?

Who

  1. Who is the audience?
  2. What do they already know?
  3. How much detail to include or exclude?

Where

  1. Where will the dashboard be viewed?
  2. Large screen or small screen?
  3. Print or mobile or desktop?

Why

  1. Why are you sharing the data?
  2.  
  3. What is the purpose?
  4. Is it to inform?
  5. Is it to explore?
  6. Is it to explain?
  7. Is it to measure a goal?

What

  1. What information you will show?
  2. What question will it answer?
  3. What do you want the audience to takeaway?

The answers to all these questions will guide us through the “Design Process”
